Tuesday Morning, December 27th
We got to our hotel pretty late the night before.
We pretty much got into our rooms, changed into our jammies, and went to bed. So, imagine our surprise when we woke up in the morning and opened the blinds and saw this:
What?! We were pretty shocked at the view. We were overlooking the bay and the bridge to Kowloon. Spectacular!
Michelle & Chad were so on the ball that they even got a picture of their kids in front of the amazing view. Dangit. I didn't get that shot. We'll have to borrow one of theirs- good thing they have cute kids!
After we stopped gawking at our view, we headed down for some breakfast. Thank goodness the Marriott serves some American food. I was a little bit nervous that I wouldn't find anything for the girls to eat, until I saw the plethora of bacon, toast, eggs, and juice. Phew. We are going to be just fine here.
We then decided to take a little tour -local style- of downtown Hong Kong.
Ashley REALLY wanted to take a nap instead, so Grandma was so nice and stayed with her.
On the down side--we missed them!
On the up side--I got to focus and see Hong Kong!

We decided to take the trolley around with all of the locals. With three tall white guys and three little blonde girls, we definitely stuck out. I REALLY felt like I was in a foreign country. Much more than when I was in Singapore. The further we went, the less English I saw, and the more anxiety I felt. Thank goodness my Dad was our tour guide. He managed to get all 9 of us on and off the trolley successfully!

Apparently, I need to work on that skill.
Here's one where you can actually see Chad:

We stopped at a little local restaurant we saw from the trolley.
Um, $29.00 for a double cheeseburger meal?!?
I had to take a picture! Then I was quickly asked to put my camera away.
Apparently, there is no photography allowed at McDonalds. Good to know.
The meal was good. Not like American good, but good.
After lunch we rode the trolley back to the hotel where we found this sleepy-face:
I am such a sucker for a cute post-nap picture. I LOVE those puffy little eyes. Ashley and Grandma had a good rest, and we enjoyed seeing a little glimpse of Hong Kong!
